somebodiestreasures.com was originally birthed in 2002 out of an idea the founder had to help those who may not have the capacity to get their pre-owned "treasures" advertised on the internet. The idea never really got off the ground but the web-site grew more into a center for the founder and others to Christian resources.
It seems to be moving in the direction of becoming an internet within a internet ( a portal of sorts ) where the internal search function can only find links to stuff already on this site or to things we believe to be "Christian Appropriate". Filtering out what we believe a is not Christian Appropriate is not easy but some things are obvious... The Old Testament Scripture that we look to The Ten Commandments.
Exo 20:2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Exo 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Exo 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Exo 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; Exo 20:6 And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. Exo 20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. Exo 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Exo 20:9 Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: Exo 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: Exo 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. Exo 20:12 Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. Exo 20:13 Thou shalt not kill. Exo 20:14 Thou shalt not commit adultery. Exo 20:15 Thou shalt not steal. Exo 20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. Exo 20:17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor's.
New Testament Scripture that we use that most directly to applies to accomplishing this goal is can be found in the words of Jesus in what is commonly called "The Greatest Commandment and in Galatians 5 & 6 as well.
Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself.
Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Gal 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. Gal 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Gal 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Gal 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Gal 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. Gal 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Gal 5:26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
We believe that there is a growing demand for what we are attempting to do here. Many of the most popular internet search engines and websites open doorways into things that Christian parents would not want their children to have access to even with the strictest of search settings. You would not want to know about some of the things I was able to find being auctioned ( while just checking ) on a very well known and popular on line auctioning site.
As of December of 2005, the visitors (unknown) to the site was about 800/month. As of March 2006 there are over 3,000 visitors per month channeling through this website and in April 2006 over 5,000. < see site stats > We also come up high on the results list when searching for all sorts of stuff in our region on many of the most popular search engines.
Try some searches on the Yahoo, AltaVista, & MSN search engines for: "Christian Events NY", "Christian Advertising NY", "Jesus Rally NY", "Christian Rochester NY", "Motor Home NY", "Motor Home NY", "Hill Publishing Network NY", "Field Of Miracles NY", "Messiah Prophecies NY", "Christian Cafe NY", "Highland Park Bowl NY" "Christian Newspaper Rochester NY"
Moving forward, it is the intention of the staff at somebodiestreasures.com to continue to build it out as a self-sustaining Christian Resource Center and combine it with the original intention mentioned above in mind as well. As of March 2005 we have adopted the theme of being a online source of "Christian Appropriate" advertising. We hope and pray our new initiative will be supported by many.
Gal 6:10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
In 2006 I would like to establish an Advisory Council and a Directors Council.
The purpose of the Advisory Council is to help ensure that the website maintains a general appeal as to it's stated purposes. It will be composed of the supporters of the site in general who want to offer ideas, suggestions, and / or assistance in building it out. Even if it is constructive the advise given may take some time to respond to or may not be reflected in our future efforts at all Dependant on the other factors we may need to consider. Click HERE if you want to be considered for this years Advisory Council.
The purpose of the Directors Council is to help ensure that the website administrator maintains a "Christian Appropriate" environment. It will be composed of a group of clergy and elders representing various denominations of the Christian faith that may have differences in doctrine or theology but at the same time can come together in the unity under the Spirit of God through our Lord and Savior Jesus of Nazareth and Son of God and Mary who is "the Christ"!!!
Any direction conveyed by it's members to the website administrator will be considered most seriously by him and most likely other members of the council as well. Even if it is constructive the direction given may take some time to respond to properly or may not be reflected in our future efforts at all Dependant on the other factors we may need to consider. Click HERE if you want to be considered for this years Directors Council.
<= My more polished look
This picture of me was taken in the summer of 1998. Most who see it, see a sharp-looking, well dressed young man who seems to be happy and confident. I know what was going on inside this man, however, and in truth I felt very much alone, lost, and desperate in many ways in my life. In the ways the world might size me up, I was doing great...but inside, my love of self and others in my world was dying. The question "What good is it to gain the world but to lose your soul?" comes to mind. I've come a long way since then and I thank God daily for the new life He has given me. Putting God first in my life required some pretty big sacrifices and although many might look at me now and think I'm not doing well....I can now truly say I've never been better. Thank You Jesus!!! +-:) |
My less => polished look
We most certainly are not justified by our works in showing the love of Christ but faith without works is said to be dead. I can say I felt very much alive on this day! Anyways....I hope and pray (04/01/03) my new effort with somebodiestreasure.com ( also > somebodiestreasures.com ) is highly successful in serving the Lord and that he would continue to provide my daily bread in my walk in this world. The site and I are a work in progress so in the mean time try and keep the faith (as will I). Sincerely His, Randolph R. Shea +-:) |

Act 20:24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
1Co 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
1Co 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
1Co 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
Gal 3:1 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
Gal 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
Gal 3:3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
Gal 3:4 Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.
Gal 3:5 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
Gal 3:6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
Gal 3:7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
Gal 3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
Gal 3:9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
Gal 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
Gal 3:11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
Gal 3:12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
Gal 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
Gal 3:14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles throughJesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Rom 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
Rom 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Rom 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Rom 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Rom 6:5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Rom 6:7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
Rom 6:8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
Rom 6:9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
Rom 6:10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
Rom 6:11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Rom 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
Joh 15:9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
Joh 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
Joh 15:11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
Joh 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
Joh 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
